Starting life as a rugby player, Nicky Johnson soon became part of Croeserw United for a number of years before deciding to try his luck in the Bridgend & District Football League with Caerau Boys Club. After failing to settle with his new club, he later returned to Croeserw United with then manager Geraint Ferguson. In 2010, Nicky transfered to Croeserw Athletic, and was one of the original footballers to sign. He soon became Club Captain, scoring 7 goals in all in the clubs first season and securing a promotion spot for the club. The Croeserw born footballer is known for his no noncence approach to the game, and make sure the job gets done.
